Introductions…

Hi! I’m Gavin Parks, Licensed Home Inspector (License #1717) with the State of Washington and owner of Chinook Home Inspections. I’m a Pacific Northwest native and I love it here.

I started this company after working for 15 years “hands-on” in the construction and home building industry. I have experience in nearly all aspects of building- from foundations, framing, and plumbing, to roofing, and ground work mitigating drainage issues.  My time in the trades has given me insight into common and rare conditions that plague structures in our neck of the woods. This has provided me a unique edge while investigating and assessing a homes integrity. I am also a man who values a job done RIGHT over a job done quick. It’s not ever really quick… it’s the lie of shortcuts that bites ya every time. Ask me how I know.

Why quality matters. Our Story.

I have personal experience with the importance of quality home inspections. When my wife and I bought our first home it was a cute, 1940’s charmer with tons of character. We hired an inspector and at the time there were not a lot of regulation & standards for the industry. He missed a host of issues with the home (be weary of an inspector who shy’s away from cobwebs and getting dirty). We were young and newlywed and unable to move in for months. We were also unprepared to take on the financial burden of the repairs. Our new home turned into a nightmare when it should have been a honeymoon! This experience obviously carries with me today. I know what it’s like to step into the unexpected with a home.

It would be an honor to help you in this process. I promise to care about your investment like it were my own.

My family and I live in Plain. Where we pinch ourselves regularly. WE GET TO LIVE HERE!?

The Chinook Approach

There is no “perfect” home, it’s just not the nature of things. In the Northwest seasonal rain, sun and snow can decay wood and weather paint. Every component has a lifespan. With this in mind, we will find “stuff” on every house. This is not meant to scare you, it’s simply intended to give an accurate glimpse of where this house has been and what may need to be addressed.

Just about any issue can be resolved with time or money, knowing what is present allows you to choose what you are willing to take on. The alternative puts you at risk of facing big, unexpected repairs that may have directed your purchase or sale differently had you known in advance.
